I must apologize for yesterday.  It just wasn't a good day for me and I was unable to accomplish anything.  One of those stay in bed kind of days.  So because I didn't blog yesterday I have two cards for today.

First off there really is nothing new going on in my family.  School is almost over for the two older grandsons but we were able to attend both of their choir concerts so that was great.  The two youngest boys are doing well.  Baby doesn't like sleeping at night much but there is a doctor appointment for him today so maybe the doctor can provide some insight.

Anyway on to cars.  June has a lot of events; babies, weddings, graduations, anniversaries and lots of birthdays.  My great niece, Kyla is having a birthday on Monday so I made a card from a bicycle die that I recently purchased.

I used a red card base and mounted a white dry embossed mat on the card base.  I embossed it with a post card embossing folder from Tim Holtz.  I then cut a black waving scrap of card stock, with a Creative Memories wavy cutter (retired),  for my road.  I used this wonderful bicycle die from Memory Box running through the big shot twice and then I also ran it through with a scrap of brown for the basket.  I used the silver card stock for the bike base and then I cut out pieces of the red bike for accents.  I used two crystals for the center of the wheels, bakers twine in blue to hold up the birthday banner. I really like how this card turned out.  Great for a tween, teen or anyone that likes bicycles.

Now this second card is for my younger sister, Bobbie, whose birthday in June 4.  Need I say that my sister enjoys going to casinos and that is usually a place that her wonderful hubby (he enjoys casinos also and also has the same birthday) takes her two on her birthday.  I used a stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle for the image.  I die cut the image out with Stampin Up's Apothecary die then sponged the edges in a blue.  I used a plain blue mat and a white dry embossed mat which was embossed with a Darcie embossing folder.  I almost forgot that I colored the image with Stampin Up and Copic markers.  Most of my Stampin Up markers are in Florida which I am finding that I miss those water based markers a whole lot.  I guess I am going to have to transport a lot more things back and forth.

Have a wonderful weekend and see ya Monday!

Well I decided to create another baby card since my wonderful neighbor, Donna will be a grandmother for the first time in the fall.

I like this one better so I am going to go back and use a darker pink for the sentiments on yesterday's card

Friday, May 17, 2013

Well it is late in the day on the 17th of May and still there is no card being posted.  I am afraid that I have not made a card today and I haven't any to post.  However I will make an excuse for myself.  At 5 am this morning my husband gets out of bed and turns on a light.  I look at my clock and tell him it is only 5 and then I hear him putting on his jeans.  Now usually first thing in the morning he puts his sweats on so I asked him where he was going.  He tells me he has to go and watch grandson #3 because Katy is having her baby today.  Now up to this point my daughter has made no commitment to me about a C-section or natural child birth.  I said I never heard the phone ring.  He said that no was is suppose to know but she is have a C-section.  Weird.  So off he goes.  He calls me about 7am and asks me how I am and I tell him I am getting ready to go out with my friend Roxanne for breakfast because we planned it earlier in the week.  Someone should have said something if I wasn't suppose to make plans.

Well half way through my breakfast around 9:00 I got the call.  I am the proud grandmother of Asher Dean Kaminsky.  He is a sweet and precious little boy that I know will be a wonderful addition to their family.
And just to prove it here is a photo of big brother Cohen holding his new brother.

                                 Have a great weekend everyone.

Well this was a tough one.  I seen a card using the same stamp set and thought it was so cute.  I took a pick because I wanted to try and replicate the card but using my telephone which doesn't take great photo's (still use a flip phone) made it difficult.  So I decided to just select some paper to use and go for it.  Actually, the card did turn out well and I think I might try it with different dies and colors at a later date but I wanted to create one for my daughters in-laws because they recently purchased a second home in Bonita Springs, FL.
Here is the card:

So the stamp set I used is called Prehistoric Girl from My Favorite Things. It is a wonderful set.  It has several sayings as well as the girl and the foot prints.  I used a couple scraps of of designer paper from Gina K designs.  I also die cut a border using a dotted scallop border from My favorite things.  I punched out flowers with a stamping up retired punch and used large pearls for their centers.   I used Adirondack dye ink in Mushroom to stamp the focal image and then colored the focal image with Copic markers. The paw prints and the sentiment were stamped with caramel dye ink

Have a wonderful rest of your day

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Hi everyone.  We had a really hot day in Minnesota yesterday, it was in the high 90's.  Today however it is in the mid 70"s and the trees have leaves on them.  Ah, Spring is finally here and I will be a grandma for the 4th time very soon.  I am very excited.  We don't know what sex the baby is which makes it all the more exciting.

Well back to card making which I find is one of my favorite things to do when I need relaxation.  Before I show you the card I made for you today I want to share a card that I received for my birthday last fall.  I fell in love with this card.
This card is so pretty.  I think this branch is from a Stampin Up set and the flowers are also from a retired Stampin Up punch.  The butterflies are from a Stampin Up embosslit.  My friend, Donna, doesn't do a lot of card making so I really appreciate this card.  I liked the scoring she did around the edge of the inner white piece.  It is just barely noticeable on this picture but it is there.

Now for the card I made.  I have been fooling around with the Eclipse sticky paper.  I found a die and stamp set by Sizzix and Hero Arts.  I thought the flower die was simple so that it would look more obvious than the last card I made.  I didn't like it.  The idea behind this is to end up with a white silhouette.  This flower left too much white space.  Any way let's get down to specifics.
I placed the Eclipse sticky sheet 3 X 3 over the Inchie Art mat board.  I then ran the square with the flower through the big shot then removed the background.  I sponged the background using blush blossom and regal rose.  I used a peach rectangle 5 1/4 X 4 inches for the back drop; which I ran through the big shot with a dotted swiss embossing folder.  I found a scrap of rose ribbon and used that around the back drop. I mounted the peach on the white card base.  I then cut a white square 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 inch and mounted the mat board on to that and the entire square went on the peach back drop. I then used Stickles to outline the white flower and left the Stickles to dry.  I was really unhappy with the white space so I took the stamp that matched the die and inked it with regal rose and moss green ink and stamped it.  Much happier.  I also like lots of bling.  I added small pearls to each corner of the mat board and to the middle of the knotted ribbon.  I wanted to be able to use this card for whatever might come up so I used a stamp from Stampin Up teeny tiny wishes.  I then used those new dies that I recently received from Impression Obsession.  I inked the edge with regal rose ink, glued it down and put a medium sized pearl.  Now that it is finished, I do like the card and I will continue to search for just the right die.

                                  Have a wonderful day!

May 14, 2013 Serene birds

Hi everyone,  I want to thank those of you that leave me nice comments.  It is for you that I make my cards.  Of course I make the cards at least the day before but sometimes I make them weeks ahead of time.  This particular card I made Monday evening while waiting for my husband to come home from golfing.  I really love this card because of the colors and of course the stamps.

I started out with an ivory card base.  I then dry embossed a rectangle of tan with Stampin Up's Chevron Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card base.  I took a scrap of red card stock and used Stampin Up dies Framelits Label Collection and used the 3rd of 6 dies.  I stamped my focal image using Stampin Up Serene Silhouettes.  I used crumb cake ink and used copic marker strong red to color the birds.  I die cut this image using the 2nd of the 6 Label Collection die.  I recently purchased a set of banner dies from Obsession Impressions and so I cut out the largest image and using Stampin Up stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment.  I found these cute metal leaves that had a loop on the top and thought that would look really cute on this card and I found a small brad and attached the sentiment flag.

The more I look at this card the more I love it.  It is really reflective of me. Not that I am serene or anything but sure would like to be but the colors and I do love birds.

                                               Have a wonderful day

I hope everyone had a great weekend and all you mom's were treated like queens.  I know that I had a great Mother's Day although I did miss my oldest daughter Jennifer and my two oldest grandsons.  I got to spend time with my youngest daughter and her family along with my son.  My wonderful husband cooked us steaks which were to die for.  Here is a picture of Katy, Cohen and me hamming it up for the camera.

Well after my family all went home, I came to my craft room (Katy's old bedroom) and made a birthday card.
I started out with a stamp set that I thought was so cute as well as versatile, called Happy Hour, from Stampin Up.  I took one of the glasses from the set which by the way comes with the straw and umbrella and many other accessories, and stamped it using Gina K dye ink, Ocean Mist.  I wanted this to be a summery card so I went to Only Orange an old Stampin Up color and stamped the umbrella.  I then restamped the umbrella on scrap paper, cut it out along with the straw.  I used dimensionals to pop up the accessories.  Since I had purchased ribbon that matched the Ocean Mist ink I added a ribbon and bow.  I mounted the entire thing on paper that was a little darker than the ink. I stamped the sentiment in the Ocean Mist ink and mounted it on orange and then popped it up with dimensionals.  I added orange crystals to finish off the card and mounted everything on a white card base.

I like the summery feel with the ocean colors as well as the bright orange.  I can't wait to give this to one of my family members for their birthday.

                                                Have a wonderful day

Hi Everyone

Well it has been a really long time and I apologize for neglecting my blog.  I really cannot explain but I hopefully will have the time this summer to get back into the swing of things and keep up with my blog.  I have been making cards and I have a photos for many of them.  I just have to sort out the ones that I created on my own from the ideas of other people.  I want to make sure that I give credit where credit is due.

My first card is one that I CASd from Stampin Up demonstrator Jackie Walker using the Zoo Review
Stamp set.

I used a Kraft card base with black and orange rectangles.  I stamped the lion using starfruit and the grass with grass green and old olive.  I added orange brads at the top.  I like the earthy colors and the peacefulness of the lion.   I great masculine card.

My next card was a new technique I tried.  I seen the technique on a web site called Inchie Art.  I started with a 3" matboard square made by Inchie Arts.  I then used a product called Eclipse Printable Sheets that have a lightly sticky adhesive.  I cut a 3" square of the Eclipse sheet and adhered it to the mat board. Using Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D-lites Medallion One  I ran everything through the Big Shot.  I then removed the background and lines of the Eclipse paper.  I then sponged the square with passion pink ink and calypso coral ink.  I matted the mat board square onto a square of calypso coral cardstock and then that square on to ivory cardstock and it all went on a melon mambo card base.  I then needed a little bling.  I used clear Stickles and covered all the lines of the medallion and added an orange crystal the the center.  The picture doesn't do this card justice.  I think a more solid die might work out easier but this was a lot of fun to do and it is very pretty.

My third project this week, yes all three were done this week, was to create a gift box.  I made three so that my three grandsons could present their moms with a small gift for Mother's day.  I used  card stock in an orange, lavender and pink and created the box.  I then took white card stock and stamped flowers from the mixed bunch stamp set from Stampin Up with versamark ink, took clear embossing powder and then heated it so that I achieved a glossy white look on the paper.  The using the matching punch I punched out the three flowers.  I used summer smooches brads from stamping up for the flower center.  I used the build a bird punch and punched out the birds wing and the branch in green.  I used the bird's wings on  two of the flowers and the branch on one for the leaves.  A fun quick project and my grandson's will have a pretty box to give mom their little gift.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there and have a great rest of the weekend.  Now I do promise to post something on Monday.

                                                                      All my Best
